July 26th Updates

We Arrived around 3:30pm
-
Got settled into Hotel rooms
-
Went to GA Tech pool! Big moment for a lot of the kids. A lot of wide eyes looking around at the beautiful facility.

Moe's Catered dinner for the athletes and it was GUD!

800 Free and 1500 Free are tomorrow!
July 27th Updates - DAY ONE!! Real Time Results

Hotel for Breakfast, Waffle machine had to work overtime when 38 swimmers wanted some Beligum waffles.
-
Non-Distance swimmers warmed up at 8:30am

Team Returned to Hotel to a Chick-fil-a Lunch!
-
We left the hotel as a team to support our 800 and 1500 Freestylers.
-
During the Warm-ups the local diving team put on a show for the swimmers and I will try to upload some photos later.
-
Dirk Bell Lead the night off with a huge drop in time in the 1500 free and a 3rd place finish (16:32.95). Then Lila Felix and Sara Stansel were our first 800 Frees and they finished 12th and 13th in the 13-14 girls (Lila - 9:37.72 & Sara 9:38.01). Kyle Kemp was our 2nd miler with a huge drop in time and a 12th place finish (17:03.94). Caty Hueske finished the night up with a best time and an 18th place finish (9:36.69).

ALL-in-ALL it was a great start for the Palmetto State!

Athlete Dinner at the GTAC to eat and watch Finding Nemo, we left early and since some kids didn't get enough food the chaperones went off to Mickey D's for some chicken sandwiches and McDoubles!

Back to the Hotel to enjoy a little downtime and shave for tomorrow!
As Coaches we decided to let the Bohon Family hash out their problems on their own, apparently Micah won.

Day 2, Wednesday July 28th
-
The team started off with a later wake up around 6:50am. Thank you to Jason's Deli for supplying some extra Fresh and hot bagels for the team on top of the hotel breakfast.

200 Free Kicked the day off!
-
Lot of nerves to start the day but those nerves were replaced with determination by days end.
-
Six Palmetto State Swimmers are resting for seven final swims.
-
The team was shut out of final swims in the 200 frees but the team was sparked when 11-12 Nathan Delahunty placed 4th in pre-lims in the 50 breast. Than the team was on a steam roll with five more swimmers putting times on the board to get them into the night session.

Ben Spinek and Walker Harwell Finaled in the 13-14 boys 200 breast

Publix rot. chicken for lunch with mac and cheese and corn as sides!! Good stuff.

Nathan Delahunty Kicked off the night with a 4th place finish in the 50 Breast. His time was a 35.07

Ben Spinek finished 5th in the 13-14 boys 200 breast with a time of 2:32.91. Walker Harwell finished 9th with a time of 2:43.00

Hanna Humphreys finished 10th in the 15-18 200 breast with a time of 2:47.70

Nathan Delahunty in his 2nd final swim of the night finished tied for 6th with a time of 1:07.04 in the 11-12 boy 100 Fly

Adam Dear finished 7th in the 13-14 boys 100 fly with a time of 1:00.49

Corinne Taylor finished 9th in the 1-518 girls 100 fly with a time of 1:05.54

At the conclusion of finals I can only speculate that the SC zone team has slid down from 7th last night to 9th but I am not positive.

Pizza hut delivered pizza a little late tonight but we still got the kids to bed by 10:00pm.

Day 3, July 29th
-
Good start to the day. We had early warm-ups and all kids were ready in lobby in plenty of time! Their reward Chick-fil-a biscuits waiting for them!

Now on to the swimming!
-
Chandler Brown and Adam Dear were the first to swim times fast enough for finals. Both will swim tonight in the 200 back
-
Ali Galyer and John Kelly both swam top 16 in the 50 back and will swim tonight.
-
Adam Impson did a lifetime best in the 100 free and got into the 13-14 boys 100 free final
-
Hannah Robins also did a lifetime best time and got into the 11-12 girls 400 free final
-
Melissa Phan ANOTHER lifetime best time and got into the 13-14 girls 400 IM!

Jason's Deli delivered lunch for the swimmers
