SCLSC Test Sets

Purpose of this page is to motivate and encourage swimmers with training results instead of meet results.

Instructions:

  • Use the template provided or if you use something else that is fine.
  • Provide a smalll description of what you did prior to the test set for comparison.
  • Provide a small description of the group that did it; beginner age group, intermediate age group, advanced age group, senior, etc.
  • Let’s have some fun! These sets are for every ability level, whether a swimmer is holding :58 on 100 frees on 2:15. The sets encourage RACING! You can change any aspect of the sets. Amount of repeats or interval. Nothing is set in stone. Experiment with what works and share it!
  • I have encourage coaches from other states to participate as well! The more the merrier!

YSSC - Duncan, SC

Usually at YSSC we do a 600 to 1200 warm-up, a 400 to 1000 Kick-drill-build set of whatever stroke the test set is, and than a 400 to 1000 heart rate set of 50s or 75s before our test sets. Depending on what group is doing the test set the pre-test set yardage has a wide range. 

YSSC Test Set #1 - 6 (8) x 100 Free on 6:00

YSSC Test Set #2 - 6 (8) x 100 Stroke/IM on 6:00 (only 12 & Unders can choose IM, but I suggest stroke no free)

YSSC Test Set #3 - 4 (5) x 200 Free on 8:00

YSSC Test Set #4 - 4 (5) x 200 IM on 10:00

YSSC Test Set #5 - 6 x 50 Free with a 100 ez inbetween every 50. This test set is done by our younger groups at YSSC. Green and Red Group 7 to 11yr olds. YSSC 5-9-09 results
